Students

I expect that you will try your hardest.

That means that I would prefer to not hear the phrases:

  • " I don't know"

      • Try and form an educated guess from what you have heard in class or have read

  • "I can't find the answer"

      • Instead say, "I am having difficulty finding the answer could you help me, please?"

  • "My dog ate it"

      • Try along the lines of: "Despite knowing the due date, I messed up and didn't do it."

        • Being honest about not turning in work shows maturity, responsibility, and reflects well on your character

FAQs:

Q: What should I do if I am absent?

A: We have unit calendars that will have the classwork and/or any homework that was assigned. Take a look before asking me what we did while you were gone.

Q: Can I turn in late work?

A: Unexcused late work is not accepted. If you are absent, you are given the number of days gone plus one to turn in the work covered during your absence (e.g. absent 3 days = 4 day window to turn in work).

Q: I didn't finish my assignment. Should I even bother turning it in?

A: YES! Partial credit is better than a zero in the grade book. I will grade the work that you did complete and it shows that you put in some effort.

Q: If I get a low test score will that drastically affect my grade?

A: The way my grades are compiled, the points accumulated from doing all your classwork, activities, and assignments will outweigh one poor test score. So don’t worry.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP! If you are struggling, please come talk to me and we will work together to find a solution.

Q: Is there any extra credit I can do to raise my grade?

A: Occasionally, extra credit opportunities are given. Take advantage of those few occasions. It is not given at the end of the quarter/semester/year to raise a low grade.
